Unit 2 - Comparing Numbers with Integers
We don't use integers in real life, do we???
First, what is an integer? Well, an integer is a whole number (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, ....) but also the opposites of the whole numbers. What are the opposites of the whole numbers? NEGATIVES!!! Integers: ....-5, -4, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ..... Those are the integers and yes, we use them all the time. We have to be able to understand, compare, and calculate with both positive and negative numbers in many situations in real life including money, temperature, elevation, and so many other scenarios. |
